Spectator Safety:
This accredited qualification is aimed at those learners who wish begin working as a steward at live spectator events. These spectator events may include music festivals, rock and pop concerts, sporting events, parades or carnivals etc.
It is a theory based award providing learners with the knowledge they require to effectively prepare for events, control entry and exit of customers, identify and deal with crowd problems and respond to emergencies.
The total qualification time for this qualification is 50 hours, of which 40 are recommended as guided learning hours. This qualification is assessed through the completion of a portfolio of evidence that will also be internally quality assured by the centre.

This accredited qualification is aimed at those learners working in the stewarding industry wishing to gain a nationally recognised and accredited qualification in spectator safety.
The certificate looks for learners to evidence their knowledge, understanding and practical skill for preparing for spectator events, controlling the entry, exit and movement of people at spectator events, monitoring spectators and deal with crowd problems, supporting the work of the team and organisation, helping to manage conflict and dealing with accidents and emergencies.
The total qualification time for this qualification is 290 hours, of which 85 are recommended as guided learning hours. This qualification is assessed through the completion of a portfolio of evidence that will be internally quality assured by the centre, along with on site observations.

This accredited qualification is aimed at those learners working in the spectator safety industry wishing to gain a nationally recognised and accredited qualification in spectator safety supervision. The objective of this qualification is to confirm occupational competence and provide learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding of spectator safety. Learners will cover topics such as:
- Preparing stewards and venues for spectator events
- Managing and maintaining stewarding in designated areas
- Managing information for action and decision making
- Developing and sustaining productive working relationships with stakeholders
- Monitoring and solving customer service problems

The Level 4 Diploma in Spectator Safety Management (RQF) is aimed at individuals working in a senior role in spectator safety management such as stadium manager, safety officer or chief safety officer. This qualification meets the requirements for level 4 training for people working in senior roles such as Chief Security Officer as specified in the DCMS Green Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds.
Objectives of the qualification include: meeting relevant programmes of learning and supporting a role in the workplace. The mandatory units cover the skills, knowledge and competence to plan and ensure the safety of people attending a spectator event, assist the organisation to develop and implement policies and provide information to support decision making; manage own resources and professional development, provide learning opportunities for colleagues and develop productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
To achieve this qualification, learners must achieve a minimum of 58 credits in total: 50 credits from the 7 mandatory units, plus a minimum of 8 credits which must be from at least 2 optional units. All units in this qualification are assessed by portfolio and observation. Evidence for this qualification must come from the learners’ consistent performance in the workplace.
It is important to us that learners understand that tutors for this qualification are Spectator Safety Managers that are not only currently working in these roles in large venues, but also have a wealth of knowledge and experience from a background of various venues and events from around the world. This enables us to provide the most up-to-date training with the use of recent scenarios and examples that have been experienced by the tutors themselves.
Course duration: Dependant on the learners selection of at least 2 optional units and how much time they work in the role.
